Finwire about Cyclezyme AB: Cyclezyme increases operating loss in Q1

Biotech company Cyclezyme reported no revenue during the first quarter of 2026. Operating profit/loss simultaneously worsened to SEK -0.8 million (-0.3). Earnings per share amounted to SEK -0.32 (-0.17). During the quarter, the company’s first European patent was granted by the European Patent Office. The patent covers a process for enzymatic depolymerization of polyester, including PET, using microwaves to accelerate the process. CEO Peter Falck states that the company sees growing interest in technologies that can contribute to a stable supply of circular raw materials and reduced climate impact. "The first quarter of 2026 has been marked by a continued uncertain external environment, where energy prices, geopolitical unrest and questions about future raw material supply affect large parts of industry. For the plastics industry, this means a growing need to reduce dependence on fossil raw materials while also securing access to materials for future production. Interest in circular solutions and recycling therefore continues to increase, both from an economic and strategic perspective", writes Peter Falck.
