Xoma, which develops technology for algae cultivation, announces preliminary test results from the evaluation of its algae-based purification technology on process water from a facility at Höganäs.In the tests, a reduction of boron of up to 86 percent was achieved using the algal species Chlorella vulgaris. Boron is a contaminant that Xoma has previously not worked with to any great extent, and the company therefore considers the results promising for continued development in industrial water purification. This is stated in a press release. The analyses have been carried out by the independent laboratory SGS Analytics Sweden.Xoma states that the dialogue with Höganäs continues and that the next step in the development work is now being evaluated.
